Freak accident led to fatal balcony fall... Investigators say Beach woman was trying to fix ceiling fan when she fell 6 stories
BAY POINT — Investigators have determined a freak accident caused the death of a Panama City Beach woman Thursday afternoon.Tamara Overton, 56, was on the sixth story of Bay Point's Lagoon Towers condo with her real estate co-workers when the incident occurred at about 3:25 p.m., Bay County Sheriff's investigators said in a news release Friday.
Overton and co-worker Glenn Keebler, 65, with Bay Point Realty, were sitting in chairs on the condo's balcony when they noticed a problem with the ceiling fan overhead. Another co-worker knocked on the door, and Keebler left Overton to answer it, according to an incident report.Keebler went to the parking lot with the other co-worker but discovered Overton's car was still there, according to the report. He then returned upstairs to check on Overton, officials said.
Keebler entered the condo and went to the balcony, looked out and saw Overton lying on the ground. He immediately called 9-1-1, according to the incident report. Investigators determined Overton stood on a swivel chair, attempting to fix the fan, but instead fell off the balcony.
When they arrived, paramedics and fire officials placed a neck collar on Overton and attached her to oxygen, according to an incident report. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.Keebler could not be reached and officials with Bay Point Realty declined to comment Friday.

This is a tragic story. I would like to contribute the following obit:
I knew Tamara before she entered the real estate business. At first she was reluctant to even take the exam, but finally she decided to take the plunge. Several months ago, when Tamara first became aware of this condominium project, she immediately recognized its potential. "I love it," she told me. "In fact, I could fall head over heels." Recently, she asked her employer at Bay Point Realty to assign her the job of selling these units. "I'll hit the ground running," she promised. And when Tamara tackled a task, she would always dive head first into it. Tamara never gave retirement a thought. "Why would I ever need a golden parachute?" she asked. Tamara was a very attractive lady. In fact, she reminded me of actress/celebrity Rebecca Schaeffer--mainly because both were killed by a deranged fan.

I heard Tamara Overton took one look at the condo unit and said, "I love it...it's beautiful, but you know what would make it absolutely perfect? Let's put some chairs out there on the balcony, right under the fan...and while we're at it, make 'em swivel and put wheels on the bottom. I mean, what could possibly go wrong there?"
